Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes met with the IMF on tax compliance

The first phase of the new Aruba Tax Law has been in effect since January 1st, 2019. The reform for our current tax system included changes to make the tax system a fair one for all. The fiscal reform will include a two year transition time, in order to properly execute the fundamental changes into the tax system. This brings the Government of Aruba one step closer to a more justified and balanced way to collect taxes.

This week, Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes and the Minister of Finance Xiomara Ruiz Maduro met with IMF representatives to assess the tax compliance in Aruba. The IMF will be further advising the Government of Aruba on how to improve tax compliance and create a level playing field. IMF will be doing this assessment for the next two weeks. Tax revenues will be increased through compliance and everyone should contribute with their fair share.
