Prime Minister met with the Futura Innovation Team to get an update on activities for 2019

Oranjestad, Aruba-July 2019– Recently, the Prime Minister met with the Futura Innovation Team to get an update on activities for Q2. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and evaluate the finalized and ongoing projects as well as the upcoming activities and assignments.

Some of the completed and ongoing projects that were discussed with the Prime Minister are:

  1. eGovernment
  2. Columbia University Capstone Projects
  3. Mobile Tech Lab (Mo-B)
  4. AREA
  5. SDG Board Games

The members of Futura were very receptive of the Prime Minister’s feedback and there was an opportunity for constructive discussion about the next steps for each project.

Furthermore, the Futura Innovation Team presented other projects that are currently in development for the quarter ahead. These projects include:

  1. District 297 interactive platform
  2. Price Control App in collaboration with DEACI
  3. eLearning Pilot Project for Cacique Macuarima & Aterima schools
  4. Innovation Camp & Coding for Kids
  5. Gap Conference & Girls Lounge
  6. Other STEM projects

The prime minister looks forward to the results of these upcoming ventures and is pleased that her vision for a human-centered approach in Aruba is in line with Futura’s proposals.

Futura Aruba

The Futura Innovation Team was established in 2018 with the objective to aid in the design, development and implementation of a national innovation strategy for Aruba. Futura has received the mandate to implement the Government of Aruba’s human-centered national innovation plan, named Aruba Innova 2030. Futura serves as the Aruba Government innovation lab and national think-tank.

Futura is supported by the innovation team of the Ministry of Innovation, which resides under the Prime Minister of Aruba, Evelyn-Wever Croes. The team is led by the Aruba Government’s Chief Innovation Officer, Varelie Croes. Futura, a first of its kind innovation lab in the Caribbean, collaborates with local and international innovators on pioneering innovation initiatives to stimulate the knowledge and innovation capacity of the Aruban community.For more information, visit http://futuralab.org/.
