Prime Minister Evelyn Wever Croes attends Bonaire’s National Day Celebration

Prime Minister of Aruba Evelyn Wever-Croes at Bonaire Day Celebration

Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes recently visited sister island Bonaire to attend the celebration of the National Day of Bonaire, affirming Aruba’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the island.

The Prime Minister was invited by the Bonaire authorities to participate in both cultural and official state acts.

On September 5th, the Prime Minister attended a reception hosted by the Administrator of Bonaire, Mr. Edison Rijna. The Prime Minister used this opportunity to strengthen ties with the dignitaries and exchanged ideas on how the islands can help each other in their socio-economic development journey.

One idea discussed was collaboration and knowledge-sharing on sustainable tourism development. Aruba has a well-developed and thriving tourism industry. However, Aruba is looking for new ways to diversify its economy. Likewise, Bonaire is focusing on developing its tourism sector. As part of the BES islands, Bonaire has made significant investments to help sustain its thriving tourism sector. Aruba and Bonaire share common ground with respect to their visions to achieve inclusive growth by means of a human-centered approach.

The Bonaire authorities were honored and pleased with the presence of the Prime Minister of Aruba and emphasized the importance to maintaining a great relationship between the islands for the benefit of their citizens.
