Prime Minister's Interview for New York Times

Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes was interviewed by Kelly Hoey for an article published in the New York Times in titled “Aruba: Where Women Lead” on the role of women in top positions in Aruba.

The Prime Minister spoke on her experience as the first female Prime Minister of Aruba. Kelly also interviewed many other inspiring Aruban female leaders, such as Xiomara J. Ruiz-Maduro, the Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Culture and Jane Figaroa-Semeleer, the Director of the Central Bank of Aruba. This was a great article by Kelly Hoey, who visited Aruba to conduct the interviews. Aruba gives women the opportunity to lead and to excel.

“Women in Aruba are given lots of opportunities, it is up to us to make the best use possible of these opportunities. We need more women in politics because a balance between men and women in politics give a more accurate reflection of society. I took the risk, and sacrificed a lot. I hope this inspires more women to take similar risks” – Evelyn Wever-Croes
